Requirements for the Bachelor's degree in Information Technology at GU are designed to provide rigorous technical training and a solid background in business and the liberal arts. Our students interact with IT instructors who have extensive and impressive industry experience, and provide valuable insight into professional issues. Our graduates have a valuable synthesis of industry-specific and general knowledge.

  • IT courses provide rigorous training in computer programming, database design, networking, security and other technical topics. Students will be prepared for a variety of industry certifications.
  • Business courses: Students are also required to take 32 credits of business and general electives. Business electives are encouraged in order to provide students with a sound contextual background for careers in IT and other industries.
  • Liberal arts: According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 92% of information technology professionals work outside of the IT industry. Students in the bachelor's degree program are required to complete a minimum of 55 credits in liberal arts, providing the global perspective to apply their technical training in a wide range of situations.

Elective concentrations in the bachelor's degree program

  • Networking and Security: An elective concentration for networking and security professionals, this concentration prepares a student to enter the field as a security maintenance specialist.
  • Business Application Programming: This concentration prepares students to design, modify and support applications that support business operations.
