Lincoln College of New England's Dental Hygiene Program prepares you to function effectively as an integral member of the dental health team providing a wide range of oral health services. You will be educated for a challenging career in a growth profession dedicated to the prevention and detection of most diseases of the mouth.
This intensive program will develop your competence in oral pathology, clinical procedures, prophylactic techniques, and dental radiology. You will also be prepared to provide preventive dental services, oral health education and nutrition counseling. You can choose to work in private dental hygiene and dental offices; managed care organizations; federal, state and municipal health facilities; long term care facilities; nursing homes; and schools.
The dental hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been granted the accreditation status of "initial accreditation".
Objective:
Provide students with knowledge of dental hygiene and to help students:
- understand the role of the dental hygienist as a comprehensive Dental health care provider
- exercise good judgment in assessing and responding to patients’ needs prior to, during and after procedure provide comprehensive dental hygiene services based on current standards
Bloodborne Pathogens
As future health-care providers, dental hygiene students have the potential for exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. The Lincoln College of New England Bloodborne Pathogen standard policy is available for all applicants upon request. Dental Hygiene students receive the policy as part of the orientation to the program. |
