Surgical Technologists are members of the operating room team and assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical personnel. During surgery, Surgical Technologists pass instruments to the surgeons and may hold retractors, cut sutures and help count sponges, needles, supplies and instruments.
Hospitals still continue to be the primary employers of Surgical Technologists. Americare's Surgical Technologists A.A.S. Degree program includes hands-on training in the classroom setting as well as clinical externship in local hospitals and facilities. Pre-admission testing is required. Limited seating
