This degree prepares graduates for employment providing IT support. The program provides a thorough and integrated progressive study of the IBM compatible computer and its related network/Internet technologies. Students will study computer hardware, operating systems, and applications. They'll learn to remove, install, debug, and troubleshoot all major system and networking components. Networking and Internet topologies will be studied, so that the student is familiar with the design, structure, and layout of networking systems.
On the software side, students will be trained in with industry-standard applications programs, and will gain a solid understanding of the most current computer and business application programs. The Microsoft and Linux families of operating systems are covered extensively in this program, preparing students to effectively support these industry-standard platforms. Networking via Windows, as well as Linux, is learned, with course work and significant self-study preparing students for MCP, MCSA, A+, Network+ and Linux+ certification tests.
