The Paralegal Specialist program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment opportunities in law firms, banks, corporate legal departments, local courts, federal and state agencies, and other entities dealing with legal issues. Through its curriculum that includes General Education and Core Requirements, the Paralegal Specialist program can provide students with an understanding of legal principles and the skills necessary to perform paralegal work that requires knowledge of the concepts, principles and procedures common to the practice of law. Students will have the opportunity to conduct research and complete assignments in law libraries and government offices located off campus. At the conclusion of the program, graduates who have diligently attended classes, studied and practiced their skills should have the knowledge necessary to seek employment as paralegal specialists. Job duties in this career field might include analyzing legal material, maintaining reference files, conducting research for attorneys, and collecting and analyzing evidence for hearings. Paralegal specialists can be employed in various areas of practice, including real estate, estate planning, family law, labor law, litigation and corporate law. |
