Massage Therapy

Have you always wanted to help people and be involved in the healing arts while getting paid? Are you interested in setting your own hours and earning a lot of money? There are no limits to when and where you can practice your newly acquired skills as a massage therapist. Would you like a flexible schedule that allows you to work full- or part-time and still have time to do other activities, spend time with your family, or earn your college degree? As a Licensed Massage Therapist, you will impact people's lives and develop and maintain healthy, solid professional relationships with your clients.

Massage Therapy is recognized as one of the fastest-growing professions in the medical field today. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment rate is expected to grow faster than average over the 2004-2014 period, as more people learn about the benefits of massage. Massage Therapy is defined as the systematic and scientific manipulation of the soft tissue of the body for the purpose of establishing or maintaining good health. It is an ancient and instinctual art recognized more and more by the general public, the health care industry, the corporate world, and insurance companies. It is used to bring clients to a deeper level of relaxation, improve health, address pain management issues, prevent injuries, restore a healthy immune system, improve work production, enhance physical fitness, and facilitate overall wellness.

Graduates of AHCP's Massage Therapy program will be prepared for licensing in the state of Texas and be eligible for the NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork). We offer placement assistance. Candidates for the program must be in moderately good health, as this is a physically demanding and strenuous occupation. Most graduates are self-employed, but many find jobs in doctors' offices, hospitals, chiropractors' offices, day spas, facial and beauty salons, nail salons, country clubs, resorts, cruise ships, casinos, hotels, gyms and fitness clubs, athletic teams and dance companies, corporate wellness programs, shopping malls, airports, nursing homes, psychiatric treatment centers, sport clinics, physical therapy clinics, pain management centers, in private practice in your home or the client's home, or an office setting.
