Walden University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.
In addition to regional accreditation at the university level, there are professional accreditation bodies that accredit certain degree programs. However, not all programs require or are even eligible for specialized accreditation.
Walden University is listed in the U.S. Department of Education's comprehensive database of accredited postsecondary educational institutions. The database is searchable by institution name, accrediting body, and geographic region.
The Higher Learning Commission, which accredits Walden University, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, which accredits Walden's M.S. program in Nursing, are both recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
CHEA is an advocate for quality assurance and institutional accountability and transparency in higher education. To that end, it works actively to strengthen accreditation through recognition of 60 accrediting agencies. It is a membership organization of colleges and universities that share these goals. |
